Does Validator.ValidateObject use reflection to get the attributes for validation?

I'm considering performance implications of validating models and I want to know if Validator.ValidateObject (and the TryValidate, etc.) use reflection.

If so, is there the normal performance hit for using reflection as if we had used reflection ourselves to validate?
