Android - How to do Reflection properly?

I want to access and change length of months in Datepicker, therefor I do like this: try { Field[] fields = object.getClass().getDeclaredFields();

                fields = object.getClass().getDeclaredFields();

                Method method = innerObject.getClass().getDeclaredMethod("setMaxValue", int.class);
